My work as a Natural History/Wildlife illustrator has brought a variety of interesting and sometimes challenging projects over the years. From book jackets and magazine illustrations to paintings for fine bone china and museum exhibits, each year brings a new illustration venture to tackle. My style is generally detailed and realistic and this is nearly always the requirements of those commissioning illustrations from me. Most of my work appears in books, part work magazines and collector card series but it has also been used in children's jigsaw puzzles and games, adverts and product packaging and on museum information panels. A selection of the illustrations produced are featured in the sections below. Click on the links or images for full galleries.
Picture book and puzzle commissions have included everything from farm and exotic animals to pop-up dinosaurs and the Loch Ness monster! Visit this link for images from a wide variety of projects. Go to Gallery...
Please note: with the exception of these cartoon characters, the illustrations shown in these sections have been commissioned for reproduction by publishers and various companies and the copyright belongs to them, not Kim Thompson. This means that they cannot be reproduced without the permission of the copyright owner. However, similar images can be commissioned. Please contact Kim to discuss illustration work and fees.
