Acrylic on board, 12 x 14"
In a large herd of nervous Zebras this mare was the only mother to a new foal and was extremely watchful for any threat to its life. She could hardly bear to stand still and eventually led her baby away to more open ground. I love the way the mare cranes her neck to spot danger, the long blue shadows on the sand seem to point towards a threat. Painting the tangle of thorny acacia scrub was really satisfying in this piece. Original £595 and prints available.
