Oil 15.5 x 21.5" (Sold)
This huge Cape Buffalo was one of a group of old batchelor males resting from the heat on the banks of the Chobe River. Scarred and ragged from battles with rivals, encounters with Lions and the piercing assaults from acacia thorns this animal was a joy to paint, especially the amazing textured horns, as gnarled as an old tree branch. I used oils on gessoed board and loved the colours and feel of the paint. Prints available.
