WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
If you have ever wanted to have a go with acrylic paint and get to grips with an animal subject then this day workshop is for you.
Wildlife artist and illustrator, Kim Thompson, will lead you through the painting of a popular subject, the domestic cat, using photo reference with easy to follow steps, from drawing to finished painting.
Participants will master the fast drying time of acrylics, tackle fur, lighting, backgrounds and the details which come together to achieve a realistic painting of a cat. With the opportunity to experiment with brushes and sponges and the techniques Kim uses in her own paintings, everyone will leave with a better grasp of this versatile medium.
This workshop will appeal to those who are looking to establish a good understanding of using acrylics to capture an animal subject or who might have already tried acrylics and wants to learn more. Kim is a considerate and encouraging tutor and will bring a relaxed approach to the day.
Aims of the workshop:
- to gain a better understanding of painting with acrylics
- to learn how to paint fur, eyes and whiskers
- to learn tips and techniques to take on into your future paintings.
- to leave with the confidence to continue painting in acrylics
Maximum number of participants 16
All materials for this workshop will be provided
Lunch is not provided but can be pre-ordered for £15 on request. Alternatively you are welcome to bring a packed lunch.
