Painting Wildlife in Acrylics: 2 Day Workshop

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Having worked with acrylics for over 35 years as a wildlife artist and natural history illustrator I have learnt a lot about this versatile medium and how it can be used to capture the beautiful details found in nature. I look forward to sharing my tips and techniques with you on this exciting two day workshop.

Working in easy to follow stages throughout the weekend we will build a scene with an animal subject in a natural habitat, learning about composition, lighting, reference material and backgrounds. We will be painting in acrylics on canvas, using sketches, photo reference and items gathered from nature such as mossy branches, lichens, leaves and stones.

Participants will master the fast drying time of acrylics, tackle dry brush and layering techniques and how to build detail in fur and backgrounds.

This workshop is suitable for anyone who is keen to learn more about painting wildlife in acrylics or might have already been on one of my wildlife workshops and would like more time to develop the painting.

The workshop will be held at the Palais des Vaches studio which is surrounded by beautiful  countryside with plenty of inspiration from both nature and the artwork hanging in the galleries.

•  to leave with the confidence to continue painting in acrylics

All materials and equipment are provided for the workshop.

 NB Lunch is not provided so you are recommended to bring a packed lunch.  Tea , coffee and biscuits are available through the day.
